Dr. Sameer Ahmed, MD.
Dr. Sameer Ahmed is a Vascular and Interventional Radiologist, who received his bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Cornell University with highest honors (summa cum laude) and distinction in research. He earned his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
He completed an Internal Medicine intern year at Yale University and returned to the Johns Hopkins Hospital for his residency in Diagnostic Radiology. He subsequently moved to Chicago where he completed a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Northwestern University. Dr. Ahmed has published extensively in several top journals in vascular imaging and interventional procedures.
His research has earned him awards from several organizations, including Cornell University, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, National Science Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Radiological Society of North America, and Society of Interventional Radiology. Dr. Ahmed is an active member of several specialty societies, including the Radiological Society of North America, American College of Radiology, Society of Interventional Radiology, and the Radiology Leadership Institute.
He is also a reviewer for the top journal in the field, the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Dr. Ahmed has expertise in all areas of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, with special interest in peripheral arterial and venous disease, interventional oncology, women’s health (uterine fibroid embolization and pelvic congestion syndrome), dialysis access management, spine disease/back pain, and prostate artery embolization for benign prostatic hyperplasia.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife and daughter. He also enjoys playing tennis,running, and staying active in our greater Chicago community.
